Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a 2005 film, based on the 1964 Roald Dahl children’s novel of the same name. The film was directed by Tim Burton and stars Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka and Freddie Highmore as Charlie Bucket. Upon its release, it became a box office success, and mixed critical reaction. It received an Academy Award nomination, in 2006.
